The Prestige 420, designed by Prestige and their long-standing partner Jeroni, is available as both a flybridge model and a coupe (420S). While it may look similar to its predecessor, the 420 comes with several significant upgrades.
Exterior and Decks
The 420 features a spacious fixed bathing platform and ample storage, including a dedicated spot for the life raft. The cockpit includes L-shaped seating with an adjustable-height table, and the saloon doors slide both ways to create a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. Shore power connection and access to the engine room are conveniently located.
Moving forward, the side decks have sturdy guard rails and handrails for safety. The foredeck sunbathing cushions come with flip-up backrests, and the anchor windlass and mooring gear are easily accessible. However, the anchor locker lacks hooks for securing ropes, which could be improved.
Cockpit and Saloon
The cockpit features comfortable seating and a table with telescopic legs. The saloon has been reconfigured to provide more space, with a galley spread across both sides of the boat. The table in the saloon can be adjusted to create an additional berth, allowing the boat to accommodate up to six people.
Lower Deck
The master cabin is now accessed via the shared companionway, providing a full-beam suite with a good-sized double bed and ample storage. The ensuite bathroom features a proper shower door and plenty of headroom. However, the charging sockets are only available on one side of the bed, and some fittings could be more user-friendly.
The VIP cabin features a split door and a section of mattress that can be slid back for more space. It includes hanging lockers on both sides, elongated windows with an opening port, and an overhead hatch for ventilation and natural light.
Flybridge and Performance
The flybridge includes a single helm seat, dedicated sunbathing space, a dinette, and a wet bar with a sink, grill, and fridge. Options include a hardtop or a bimini for shade. The helm station is clear and easy to use.
The Prestige 420 is equipped with Cummins 425 horsepower diesels on V-drive shafts, offering simplicity and lower running costs. The boat performs well, with a top speed of 31 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of around 22 knots. The optional joystick provides IPS-style control, but traditional throttles and bow thruster are effective for maneuvering.
The Prestige 420 is an impressive entry-level flybridge model with significant improvements over its predecessor. It offers a good balance of performance, comfort, and practicality, making it a compelling choice for those entering Prestige flybridge ownership. While there are some minor drawbacks, such as the lack of a side door, the overall package is excellent for the price.
