The opening of the fourth act of the Extreme Sailing Series in Barcelona has been postponed due to high, steep waves that played out off the coast of the Catalan capital on July 20. According to race director John Craig, high waves combined with winds up to 25 knots will cause GC32s to drift off the foils and nose into the waves with the risk of capsizing.
The first race of the Extreme Saling Series fleet has therefore been postponed to Friday 21 July. On this day in Barcelona we expect much more moderate wind in the region of comfortable for sailing 10-12 knots and a moderate wave.
On Saturday the live broadcast will take place from 16:00 to 19:00 (Moscow time) and on Sunday from 15:00 to 18:00.
