The penultimate leg of the 2017 Extreme Sailing Series season kicked off in San Diego. Eight teams on GC32 winged catamarans took to the start in the local harbour. The main Extreme Sailing Series fleet was joined by two American-flag teams, Team Extreme San Diego (skipper Morgan Larson) and Lupe Tortilla Demetrio (skipper John Tomko) on wild-card rights. Alinghi and Land Rover BAR Academy were the leaders of the first day of racing, but the Swiss overtook the Brits in the final race. The races will continue this weekend, with live streaming on Facebook and the regatta's YouTube channel.
