The 70-metre sailing yacht Sybaris is launched from the Perini Navi docks in La Spezia.

Sybaris has a gross tonnage of 870 BRT, making her the second largest sailing vessel ever built by an Italian shipyard.

The aluminium sailing yacht has been designed by Perini Navi's team of naval architects. Philippe Briand was the sailing consultant. Sybaris has 3,000 square metres of sail area. The rigging was supplied by Rondal.

The interior designer was chosen by the client. It was the American design studio PH Design who used high quality materials such as titanium for the interior.

Sybaris has a spacious guest area on the main deck that is connected to the cockpit by a four-metre-wide sliding door. The main salon boasts abundant natural light and panoramic ocean views. There is plenty of room for outdoor entertaining on Sybaris' 18-metre flybridge. Onboard this mega-yacht are two 7-metre carbon fibre tenders and a 4.5-metre lifeboat.

Two alternators feed power through the DC bus to the main power grid of the yacht. Lithium polymer batteries are used to store excess electricity.

Sybaris' customer is IT tycoon Bill Drucker. A few years ago, the businessman was diagnosed with cancer, which forced him to rethink his approach to life. Sybaris, which will feature works by Frank Stella and Auguste Rodin, will be the embodiment of his dream of a giant sailing yacht.
