Swedish shipyard Najad has acquired Arcona Yachts. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Both companies will still sell yachts under their own brands. Arcona and Najad are in essence competitors as both shipyards produce premium sailing yachts. However, while Najad specializes in offshore cruisers, Arcona builds racing cruisers.

The purchase of Arcona Yachts with production facilities in Sweden and Estonia made Najad one of the major players on the market.

The combined company will be managed from Najad's headquarters in Henan on the island of Orust. Najad CEO Jørgen Ottosson will take over this position also at Arcona. Acrona Yachts founder Torgny Jansson, until recently head of the yard, will become director of business development for the combined company. Najad and Arcona are planning to launch several new models in the spring.

«It is very exciting to be a part of this process. The launch of the new models and the expansion of the sales network will enhance the customer experience. Over the years I have been building the Arcona family. I will continue to protect our interests and the brand even now»," promises Torgny Jansson.
