Headwinds of 45 knots and high waves confronted the Volvo Ocean Race teams on their way from Cape Town to Cape Horn, as the Akzo Nobel team's helicopter photo of the raging sea well illustrates. On December 10, seven Volvo Ocean Race teams, led by Dongfeng and MAPFRE, left Cape Town for Melbourne, Australia, as part of the third leg of the round-the-world race. They are to cover a total of 6,500 miles, rounding the southernmost point of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago in South America, Cape Horn.
