The ice storms of the Southern Ocean that plagued the Volvo Ocean Race round-the-world participants in the previous stage have been forgotten. In the middle of the fourth leg the Volvo Ocean Race teams have exactly the opposite misfortune: complete calm combined with stifling equatorial heat from which it is impossible to hide. "Total hopelessness," is how Spanish MAPFRE skipper Xabi Fernandez describes the current situation , watching the fleet shrink more and more and the former advantage evaporate under the merciless sun. Someone on board, though, knows how to cheer themselves up. Naturally, the red boat's secret weapon - a slice of excellent jamon! Guys, share it with your skipper.
