Royal Huisman Anakena Overview
Anakena was built for an entrepreneur by the famous Ted Hood bureau. The client, an experienced yachtsman who had owned a large fleet of different sailing yachts, decided, based on his experience with them, to order a new boat that would incorporate all the best qualities of his previous boats. The task was difficult: to create a large but high-speed sailing yacht capable of being on the open sea for a long time with a lot of stocks onboard and being as much autonomous as possible and suitable for ice navigation. At the same time the challenge was to have an advanced electronic control system enabling centralized control of many of the yacht's functions, from cleaning the mainsail to listening to compact discs. It is interesting that one of the very first visits of Anakena took place in St. Petersburg - connoisseurs still remember her moored in the Central Yacht Club of Trade Unions.
