The 46-metre Art Explorer by Perini Navi promises to be a groundbreaking addition to the yachting world. It will serve as the world's first floating art gallery and also the world's biggest private sailing catamaran.

Designed by acclaimed French specialists Axel de Beaufort and Guillaume Verdier, Art Explorer will accommodate up to 2000 visitors daily. To all of them, the yacht will offer an immersive exhibition crafted in collaboration with the Louvre Museum. Notably, the yacht will feature an innovative sound experience and provide onboard artist residencies.

Upon delivery this summer, Art Explorer will claim the title of the world's biggest private sailing catamaran. As it will surpass the illustrious 44-metre Hemisphere, built by Pendennis and renowned for its charters and impressive looks.

Who is behind this project?

The visionary owner of Art Explorer has long championed inclusivity in the art world and decided to create a floating art gallery during one of his numerous yacht charters in the Med. As a result, in the summer of 2021, he signed a contract with Perini Navi for the remarkable 46.5-metre Art Explorer, with an impressive 17.3-metre beam and a 50-metre mast.

While French designer Axel de Beaufort and Japanese architect Oki Sato are the creative duo behind Art Explorer's captivating interior and exterior design, naval architect Guillaume Verdier has masterfully taken care of the underwater part of the catamaran, complementing the efforts of Perini Navi and The Italian Sea Group's talented teams.

Where can one visit Art Explorer?

It is believed that Art Explorer's grand journey will commence this summer in Pisa, stopping at the Monaco Yacht Show 2023. Afterwards, the yacht will sail to Marseille for its debut before embarking on a Mediterranean tour. This includes a visit to the renowned La Biennale di Venezia, an event the yacht owner always attends.

Throughout the year, Art Explorer's schedule will be thoughtfully planned, with one month reserved for the owner and his guests, another for yard work, two months dedicated to chartering, and the remaining eight months allocated to hosting exhibitions.

What will the experience be like on Art Explorer?

Art Explorer will boast a state-of-the-art 16-metre tunnel of custom horizontally curved LED screens. This immersive tunnel will set the stage for an extraordinary sensory tour that will start on the aft deck with an educational documentary, leading to the main saloon's LED tunnel, and culminating on the upper deck. All aspects of this experience have been carefully envisioned in collaboration with the Louvre Museum.

Art Explorer's maiden two-year tour will bring "Icons!" to every city it visits. Additionally, Art Explorer, in collaboration with resident curators, will showcase the work of local artists in the quayside exhibition spaces, further amplifying the cultural significance of this grand venture. Architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and his team, known for their exceptional exhibition staging for the Louvre, Rijksmuseum, and the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, will curate this pre-constructed exhibition space, designed to accommodate 10,000 visitors daily.

In other words, with its pioneering concept and commitment to celebrating art in new forms, the 46-metre Perini Navi yacht is poised to redefine yachting boundaries and elevate cultural experiences on the high seas.
