Gibert Marine was founded in France in 1972. It produced sailing yachts intended mainly for long distance racing. The Gib'sea brand was originally one of the shipyard's lines, but later on its increased popularity led to the creation of a new brand.
In 1996 Gibert Marine together with the brand Gib'sea were bought out by another French shipyard - Dufour. After a short period of time, the new owners suspended the production of Gib'sea sailboats. The restart of construction took place in 1999.
Today the construction of boats under the brand name Gib'sea is completely stopped.
The company's production facilities were located in Maran. Famous French naval architects Michel Joubert and Bernard Nivelt worked on the projects.
