About Jeanneau
Since 1995 the French shipyard Jeanneau is part of the Beneteau group, but has an independent technical policy, producing sailing and motor yachts under several own brands. Today Jeanneau is one of the largest shipyards in the world. The yachts of this brand represent a significant part of the world charter fleet. It is believed that Jeanneau yachts are slightly higher in quality and technology than Beneteau yachts.
History
The company Jeanneau was born in 1957 - its creator Henri Jeanaux, previously passionate about cars and planes, discovered a new passion for motor boats. He built a racing boat in a wooden hull, on which he won the 6-hour Paris race. Victory ignited him, and he opened a case. A year later, the first fiberglass boat was built at the shipyard. In 1964 the company started building sailing boats and since then the shipyard has been developing both directions equally. In 1980 the company began experimenting with Kevlar hulls as well and was actively involved in racing (Formula 1, Formula 3000, Niamey-Bemaco Rally), and in 1982 became the exclusive supplier of the Tour de France. In 1985 the first sailing catamaran Lagoon was born. Then again the motorboat races were won and in 1987 one of the Jeanneau boats set a speed record of -170.21 km/h. In 1989 the company launched the luxury motor yacht brand Prestige.
Model range
The company's lineup includes sailing yachts of four brands - racing-cruise Sun Fast (Andrieu Yacht Design), cruise yachts with the Mediterranean cockpit Sun Odyssey, cruise yachts with high deckhouse Sun Odyssey DS (Deck Saloon), luxury cruise yachts Jeanneau. The last three lines have been designed by Philippe Brien.
The Jeanneau motor range of yachts up to 50 feet in length includes Leader open speed cruisers, NC open and closed cruisers, Velasco flybridge cruisers, small budget open Cap Camarat outboard boats and budget closed cabin boats, also equipped with outboard engines - Merry Fisher and Merry Fisher Marlin.
Features
Jeanneau considers itself one of the pioneers of revolutionary inventions such as joystick control, 360 Docking, and propulsion systems with Volvo IPS loudspeakers or Zeus rotary gondolas. On selected sailing yacht models, the company launched the Assisted Sail Trim (AST) in 2015, which can be operated by pressing the books on the steering display.
Production
The production of Jeanneau yachts is based on 4 sites located near Nantes. Sailing yachts account for more than half of Jeanneau production. The company's dealer network remains independent from the Beneteau group and has offices in 80 countries.
