The project was first presented in 2016 at the Monaco Yacht Show. Today the vessel is in the final stages of construction. It will be handed over to the owner in spring 2020.

Exterior and interior design

Sea Eagle II is the flagship of the Royal Huisman Shipyard. At the time of her launch she is also the largest aluminum sailing yacht in the world. Among all the sailing yachts in the world, this three-masted schooner ranks 7th.

The original brief was for the designers to create a fast and comfortable yacht that would travel around the world, but would also have a truly iconic design.

«The boat may look modern now, but 50 years from now it will be a classic», according to Dykstra Naval Architects.

Built to Lloyd's LY-3 requirements, one of the hallmarks of the Sea Eagle II exterior is the plumb bow.

To reduce weight and increase maximum speed, her Roundal Panamax spars are made of carbon-based composite.

The four-meter rudder blade, also in carbon, is the largest ever made of this material.

In the stylishly discreet interior, the emphasis is on eco-materials. Oak was used for the floor and Italian walnut veneer was used for the partitions.

«This is a yacht that will never cease to be stylish»," says Mark Whiteley at Mark Whiteley Studio.

Onboard amenities

The controls are on the flybridge. The sheltered cockpit below is converted into an alfresco dining area, where guests can relax by the bar or on the comfortable sofas.

The main salon is separated from the cockpit by a sliding door designed by Rondal especially for Sea Eagle II. The dining table in the main salon can seat up to 16 people. Adjacent is an informal lounge area.

Features

Guests can admire views from a 60-meter height by climbing from the main deck to the mast in the crow's nest. This peculiar «elevator» is powered by a horizontal hydraulic winch.
