25 yachts ranging in length from 17 to 110 meters received the World Yacht Trophies Award in the form of a capital Y. The prestigious award has been presented for 16 years by the «Yachts France»yachting magazine, which evaluates new models and achievements of yards on the largest yachting scene on the Côte d'Azur. We present the full list of winners.
This year World Yacht Trophies was occupied by Italians: two of the largest groups, Ferretti Group and Azimut-Benetti, took five Y-shaped figurines from Cannes, the first of which earned the «shipyard of the year». The Designer of the Year was, again, the Italian Alberto Mancini, known for his work on the 42-meter Overmarine Mangusta Oceano with its overflow pool, the glass bottom of which is at the same time the roof of the beach club.
Best yachts in the category from 15 to 25 meters
In the 15 to 24 metre category, the 18.36 metre Azimut 60 Fly won the award for best layout. The yacht replaces the Azimut 58 and although she is built on the same platform as her predecessor and has the same propulsion system, something has been significantly improved. For example, the boat received a hydraulic bathing platform as standard and a dinghy on the flybridge, a perfect tandem for easy storage and launching of a 9 foot RIB. Another innovation is the introduction of the lower deck of the crew cabin with two bunks and washbasin aft. The lower deck layout also includes three guest cabins, with the foreman occupying an area equal to the other two cabins combined. The owner's suite offers a level of comfort unseen for 18 meters, with a dinette to starboard and a full width bathroom with a large porthole. The center of gravity of the main deck is the open plan kitchen on the midships, with many work surfaces and a lot of useful drawers and lockers.
The award for best layout of the Azimut 60 Fly divides it into a 21.46-metre. Prestige 680S. The flybridge of this model has been shifted to the center, which allowed the designers to build a huge electrically operated skylight into the main deck roof. This solution allows the Prestige 680S to combine the best qualities of a flybridge boat and a compartment boat. There are two layouts for the lower deck, with three or four guest cabins. Both have a crew cockpit aft, three guest bathrooms and the master takes up the full width of the hull.
The award for the best exterior design was given to Fairline 63 Targa GTO. Not surprisingly, this is the first Fairline to be created in collaboration with naval architects Vripack and Italian designer Alberto Mancini (both specializing in superyachts). She has a laconic sports profile, which the shipyard claims will be a model for all future Fairline models. At the touch of a button, the glass roof of the Targa 63 GTO is removed and the doors between the interior and the cockpit, which is equipped with a wind turbine and a grill, are removed to the floor. Under deck 3 or 4 passenger cabins and crew cockpit. Two versions of engines - CAT and MAN - accelerate the boat to a maximum of 32 knots.
The most innovative boat in the category from 15 to 24 meters is Absolute 73 Navetta.
The new flagship of the Navetta range, the Absolute Yachts, combines good range with high top speed. At 9 knots, the boat can travel 800 miles without refueling and can accelerate up to 26 knots. Already at 11 knots, 73 Navetta goes on a hydroplaning run. One interesting innovation on the boat is that metal plates are stitched into all the tops and magnets are stitched into all the glasses, so that even at the top speed nothing will fall or spill. Especially since, thanks to the Seekeper 16 gyrostabilizers, the boat shows minimal slope at speed.
The best interior is with the Ferretti 780. The new Ferretti Yachts 780 flybridge is a chic urban apartment on the water. For 23.7 meters, it has very rich interior spaces. Light floors and creamy ceilings contrast with dark walls, visually increasing the space. On the lower deck, four or two cabins and an additional salon are available. In both cases, all cabins have their own bathrooms, while the master takes up the full width of the hull and includes a dressing room and study.
Riva Rivale 56 won the award for best achievements. This 17 metre boat leaves the feeling «of a pocket-sized superyacht»: its full beam master suite and generously sized VIP cabin have separate bathrooms and there is also room for a crew cockpit that can be converted into an additional guest cabin. Above the head there is plenty of space, and the interiors, which are abundantly used the favorite Riva polished mahogany, are luxurious and refined.
The best yachts in the category from 24 to 38 meters.
The 33m Custom Line Navetta has won an award for the best exterior in this category. Even before the launch of the first Navetta 33 hull, five of these three deck beauties were sold. For greater stability and seaworthiness, the Navetta 33 has a bulbous bow. Its 2,000-mile cruising range means that the owner will be able to take a long cruise in the Mediterranean and even further. The fold-out superyacht terrace ensures great views from the main deck saloon, while the upper deck has sliding windows to open up the area to the elements. Another key feature is the presence of a superyacht sundeck with spa pool and large sunbathing area.
The Canados 808 Maximus has been marked as a yacht with a better layout. The 24.6m yacht has two different cockpit layouts and three lower deck layouts. One of these options includes an entire two master suites, one on the main deck and one on the lower deck, which will also have two guest cabins. You can make the lower master VIP cabin, or you can increase the total number of cabins to five by dividing the large VIP cabin into two smaller ones. Another interesting feature of Maximus is that its aft deck is designed so that it can be equipped with an extra wide hydraulic ladder for wheelchair users.
Two yachts in this size category have been awarded as the most innovative: Illumen 28M and Amer 110.
Dominator Illumen 28 M offers the Owner the comfort of a large yacht in the High Performance Hull, a semi-displacement hull designed by Dominator to reduce transient resistance and sharpened specifically for Fortjes drives. The boat is equipped with a clever double stabilization system based on the rocking stabilizer and Humphree Active Ride Control interceptor system, which guarantees the lowest resistance at any speed. Fischer Panda ISeries variable speed generators make it possible to adjust the speed according to the load of the electricity network.
As for the 28.6-meter Amer 110, it boasts an unusual power plant of four Volvo Penta IPS with 900 liters each. C., which allows the yacht to sail comfortably at 26 knots at maximum speed exceeding 30 knots. A large fuel tank of 9,250 litres will allow her to go on a long cruise along the shoreline.
The Azimut Grande 35 M has the best interior. The interior designer Achille Salvagni worked on her interior spaces, giving a modern interpretation of her classic features. The textured matt wood is combined with darker, glossy elements and inserts in brass, bronze and polished stainless steel. A highlight of the interior is the spiral staircase leading from the lower deck to the raised wheelhouse. The finish of her onyx steps illuminated at the bottom is different on the outside and inside: white lacquer contrasts with mother of pearl.
The 26.69 metre MCY 96 and the Azimut Grande 27 M received the award for best achievements.
The golden MCY 96 will make everyone in the marina wring their necks, but it is not designed to stand idle in port. It is an ocean cruiser with tall rails for a safe offshore, which are lowered forward to avoid disturbing the beautiful views from the windows of the truly royal master suite: there is a work desk, a sofa, a huge marble bathroom and a dressing room. The designers have provided two layouts for the lower deck, with four and three cabins, with different bed configurations.
Azimut Grande 27M She is positioned as the only 5-cabin yacht in her size category with an elevated wheelhouse. The shipyard has tried to anticipate all the owners' wishes and offered three stylish package interior solutions from Achille Salvagni. The turnkey» interiors «include exquisite, custom made furniture and even a selection of works of art. The finishing materials include aged oak, teak treated with black resin, lacquered mahogany and Carrara marble.
The best motor catamarans.
There's only one winner, the 23.8-meter Lagoon Seventy 8. A large flybridge with a Jacuzzi, plenty of room in front on the main deck and a platform to climb aboard tenders, which can also be used as a bathing area, make this catamaran a floating island for fun.
Best yachts in the category from 38 to 50 meters
The 49.9 meter Tankoa Vertige is the brightest looking yacht. The famous Francesco Paczkowski worked on it not for nothing. He managed to create a timeless design that is different from everything else on the market. The Displacement Vertige, built entirely of lightweight aluminum, is called the most beautiful superyacht among the yachts up to 500 BRT.
The 48-metre Baglietto Andiamo won the Best Layout Award, which provides accommodation for 12 guests in 6 cabins and 9 crew members. The Andiamo's trump card is its outdoor seating areas. She has a large 140 square metre Sundeck with an overflow pool and al-fresco snack area served by a bar and barbecue. The upper deck saloon is dedicated to the cinema and has fold-out balconies on both sides.
49.8 metres. Heesen Home has become the most innovative in its length. This yacht in the Fast Displacement hull is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system. At 12 knots, Home burns 98 litres of fuel per hour, while at 10 knots it burns only 57 litres. With the diesel engines switched off, the boat can go completely silent at 9 knots.
The award for best interior was given to the 47-meter Turquoise Razan. This yacht has a difficult fate - she came to the Turkish shipyard from Italy in the form of a steel hull and unfinished aluminum superstructure. The Turks invited H2 Yacht Design and they practically reinvented the yacht. Inside Razan is the kingdom of white. The key finishing materials here are white onyx, Turkish cream marble, white fine Italian leather and shiny stainless steel. The only coloured touch - a small touch of turquoise in the form of scattered Hermes pillows here and there - refers to the name of the shipyard. The ceiling of the master suite is decorated with Swarovski crystals and the door is decorated with rock crystal panels.
Best yachts in the category from 50 to 80 meters
67-meter Benetti Seasence received a Y-shaped statuette for best exterior. When creating Seasence Benetti first collaborated with Dutch exterior designer Cor D Rover. Both sides were happy with each other. According to Cor D Rover, the appearance of Seasence is both unique and timeless. She was designed with the owner in mind: there should be as many outdoor areas as possible on a yacht. At the rear of the main deck, Seasence has a large pool with sun loungers. This area can be connected to the dining area by means of floor to ceiling glass sliding doors. In addition to a gym and Jacuzzi, the superyacht has a real wood-fired pizza oven on the deck.
The 74-meter CRN Cloud 9 is what the judges believe to be the most well planned megayacht. Cloud 9 was originally built for another man who abandoned the project at a stage when the hull and most of the superstructure were erected. A new client gave the yards and the designers just a couple of weeks to present a completely new layout. The pros from Zuccon and Winch Design did it. The result is a yacht that fully meets the owner's vision for a perfect family holiday. For the safety of the children there are no sharp corners on board and among the six guest cabins on the lower deck there are two staff cabins, one for the nanny or the other for the teacher, finished as passenger cabins. An entire deck with a private terrace is given to the owner. The main deck has a beauty salon with a balcony with a massage table and a gym, which can be converted into a schoolroom as needed.
Sanlorenzo 52 Seven Sins has been awarded for the best interior. The interior decor of the Seven Sins, created by Officina Italiana Design, is ideal for chartering. It is a modern and elegant interior with no excesses, in a quiet colour scheme that combines white, beige and brown. The yacht boasts unique features such as a floodable garage and a glass-bottomed pool which is also the ceiling of a beach club. In general, Seven Sins is perfectly packed for charter and the fact that her first summer season is already fully booked best confirms this.
The best yachts from 82 meters in length
The only winner in this category is the 110m Oceanco Jubilee. Why the choice fell on it is obvious: it is the largest boat not only in the history of this year's Festival de Cannes, but also in the history of the boat show. To be fair it should be noted that Jubilee has a very bright appearance, created by Russian designer Igor Lobanov: the lines of its decks smoothly flow into each other, so it seems that there are more than 5. The five decks of Jubilee have a helicopter pad and a pool with a built-in aquarium. She can accommodate up to 30 guests in 15 cabins.
Special prize
The Azimut S7 won a special award as the most technologically advanced boat. The shipyard used a lightweight carbon to create it, which allowed increasing the volume of the yacht without weighing it down. The use of a swivel swim platform in the transom resulted in a large garage that accommodates a 3.25m tender and jet ski. When the garage is closed, the stern is not obstructed and the swivel bathing platform is used for its intended purpose. Thanks to three 800 litre Volvo IPS engines. S. Azimut S7 flies at over 35 knots. For faster and more comfortable alignments, the Active Trim Control system from Volvo Penta is used, which automatically determines the optimum exit angle for the interceptors according to the speed and load of the yacht for less fuel consumption and minimum resistance.
Sanlorenzo SX88 is recognized as the most avant-garde. As soon as this 27 meter yacht has not been called - both a crossover and a compact explorer. She has an open transom with an integrated crane, which allows the tender and jet ski to be loaded on the bathing platform, as well as grossly swamped windscreens inside. The only control station is on the flybridge, protected by hardtop and glass on all sides. However, the hardtop has a hatch and the side windows can be completely lowered to enjoy the weather.
The sensation of the year is the Cerri 50 M Elsea. This is the first fully customised and largest boat of the Italian shipyard Cerri Cantieri Navali.
