Pontoon boats belong to a separate class of pleasure boats, which are extremely popular primarily in the USA.
Usually self-propelled pontoons are designed on two or three floating hulls of catamaran type and are a very practical platform for a quiet family holiday on the water. The latter involves sunbathing, bathing and an ample meal with barbecue, so on board pontoon yachts there is everything you need. However, it is wrong to consider them as slow bumpers for small ponds: a decent self-propelled pontoon with a pair of 200 hp outboard motors can easily reach speeds of 30 knots and is very well controlled.
Of course, these boats are designed mainly for quiet closed reservoirs, where children can roll off a plastic slide, and adults, sitting on wide comfortable sofas, discuss business over a glass of wine. Self-propelled pontoons also have a place in a temperate climate: on some of them are provided hinged tents and even small closed premises.
