Dutch Balk Shipyard has bought Bloemsma shipyard. Balk Shipyard director and owner Daan Balk has signed a corresponding agreement with Jan Hart, owner of Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw.

Under the terms of the deal Jan Hart will remain Managing Director of Bloemsma with a full time focus on aluminium structures.

Balk Shipyard will continue to specialize in yacht refits and conversions.

The Bloemsma shipyard is located in McCooma and is known primarily for building aluminum hulls. Among others, the 24.31 meter motoryacht Griffioen and the 40.75 meter Ed Dubois-designed sailing yacht Valquest were built there.

Currently under construction at Bloemsma are two refits of sailing yachts, the 24.54-meter Bloemsma & Van Breemen Mulligan and the 22.8-meter Claasen Copihue.

Bloemsma owner Ian Hart previously sold another yard he owned, Claasen, which specializes in sailing yachts, to the German yard Vitters Shipyard.
