Hurricane Gonzalo, a Category 4 hurricane, made landfall in many popular yachting destinations. It affected the islands of Antigua, Anguilla , St. Martin and St. Bermuda. A dozen yachts were tossed onto the shores of the Antilles and sunk in the lagoon despite the hurricane forecast and warnings issued days before the storm struck. Winds of 120 knots tore the roofs off houses and tore down coastal shacks. According to the latest reports, one person was killed and at least two were missing.
