For 78ft Lupa of London's Jeremy Pilkington and 52ft Cougar II's Anthony Lyall, the Rolex Sydney Hobart race ended 300 metres from the start line. RP78 crashed into TP52, sweeping her starboard transom and damaging her own bow. "We were going right tack from the start. We had three boats stuck in between and there was nowhere to go. We had two choices - to crash into the boat above us or below us. It was a terrible feeling. A stupid crash," says Lupa of London tactician Laurent Pages.
