Russian oligarch Yury Shefler has sold the 134-meter Serene to Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman, The New York Times reported .

Yacht worth 500 million euros attracted royalty during the holidays in the south of France.

The media claim that the prince bought Serene right on the spot. Her former owner Yuri Shefler had to urgently leave the yacht on the day of purchase.

The news of the purchase comes amid an economic crisis in Saudi Arabia caused by low oil prices. Prince Mohammed bin Salman's government has frozen government contracts, putting many of the monarchy's subjects out of work.

Megayacht Serene was built in 2011 by the Fincantieri shipyard. Espen Oeino designed her exterior and Reymond Langton Design the interiors. She has 15 guest cabins, a night club, cinema, climbing wall, saltwater pool, gym and two Jacuzzis. The yacht can accommodate up to 24 guests and 52 crew members on board.
