The tour of a rubber duck by a Dutch artist in Hong Kong last May (see photo of the day on 28 May) impressed locals so much that they made a bunch of yellow imitators and launched them in all water areas of the country.
But someone went a step further - Bestknown hired some local artists to turn a ferry running on the Huangpu River in Shanghai into a rubber duck. Their motive was to bring ordinary citizens closer to art, they explained to the media. The body of the ferry was "fried" to a crispy brown crust (the artists were encouraged by the high temperatures) and the head was left yellow, as a rubber duck should be.
Ordinary citizens, however, do not want to join the high and mock the work of art: "I'm ashamed. It's embarrassing: "Such a weirdo can't be from Shanghai. Where are the green onions and sauce with which Peking duck is served?"
In September, anyone can ride the ferry for 32 cents.
