The Sunseeker shipyard will expand its workforce by 100 people to build new models. The new employees will be employed at the British shipbuilder's production facilities in Dorset. The shipyard is recruiting carpenters, plumbers, electricians, laminating and fiberglass finishing specialists, as well as engineers.

«We are happy to reveal our recruitment plans, which send a clear message that good times are ahead for Sunseeker»," said CEO Phil Popham.

The British shipbuilder has laid off several hundred employees over the past few years and reported losses of £41m in 2014. The 2016 staff expansion is further evidence that the downturn in the yacht market is ending. According to Boat Internatrional, a record number of superyachts were built in 2015 since the 2009 crisis.

British unions have expressed hope that the opening of new positions at Sunseeker will help find work for quasi-qualified staff hit by cuts at another British shipyard, Fairline.
