Sunday night the Seattle Yacht Club, Queen City Yacht Club, was viciously attacked. Perhaps the incident would have escaped media attention, but one small detail changed the picture - the bandit boarded the yacht bare-bottomed. This did not prevent the raider to climb into the 35-foot yacht and ram the pier and boats moored in the marina. Before the police could arrive, the intruder was pacified by one of the owners with a shotgun.
The suspect, a 22-year-old man, was shot in the head and arm and is now at Harborview Medical Center. His life is not in danger. Police rightly believe the guy was heavily under the influence of narcotics. After being discharged from the hospital, he will be arrested on charges of boat theft and property damage. The unidentified hero with the shotgun was questioned by the police and released the same evening.
