The nine crew members of Team Vestas Wind have finally made it to the big land - the island of Mauritius . Since their boat crashed into the reefs of the Cargados Carajos Shoals in the IndianOcean a week ago, the guys have been on the tiny island of Ilé de Sud, trying to salvage as much equipment as possible and remove anything that could be harmful to the environment: fuel and lubricants, hydraulics, batteries. Now they, together with the Volvo Ocean Race experts , have to assess the damage and see if there is any chance of restoring the boat. Judging by these photos, the chance is small. The team, nevertheless, will consider any opportunities to get back into the race.
