RIB testing on foils took place in Lorient. The tests were carried out by SEAir, a centre specialising in research into hydrofoil applications. The first product of the center's activity was a flying Mini 747, it can also be seen on the photos from the tests. As for the RIB, the Zodiac 550 with a standard Yamaha F115 engine was "winged". Its foils are not fixed - you can raise and lower them, change the angle of attack. According to designers' words, tests of flying RIB both in calm water at 40 knots and in rough sea at 15-17 knots were successful: the boat showed its stability and steadiness.
Foyles is the new black, as they say.
