Everything and everyone was ready for the start of the match race in the Gazprom Swan 60 class yesterday in Flensburg, Germany, but the wind was not lucky for the participants. The organizers postponed the start several times, but there was no wind. Eventually the race was postponed to the historical lucky day - Friday, the 13th.

Match races precede the 800-mile race on the Baltic Sea Nord Stream Racewhich will start on September 15 ( ORC class) and 16 (Gazprom Swan 60) from Flensburg and finish in St.Petersburg on September 19-20. Teams from Russia, Germany, Luxembourg, Great Britain and Turkey participate in the Nord Stream Race. In addition there will be a joint European Union team on start.

There are two divisions participating in the regatta - Gazprom Swan 60 (5 participants) and ORC (8 participants). « According to the conditions it is an extremely tough race - says Vladimir Liubomirov, world champion in the Gazprom Swan 60 class in 2013. - You can imagine this: the regatta is sailing non-stop for almost a week without calling at ports. Constant tension, fighting without the right to rest, and it's in the stormy autumnal Baltic. A moment's relaxation can cost a victory...».
