«Airbus expertise and specialists are vital to our stellar design team aiming to win the Cup. We've been working together for the majority of 2018, and you can't call our collaboration anything short of awesome. Together we will advance the technology used in sailing, win the most important trophy in our sport and inspire sailors here at home and around the world»," commented Terry Hutchinson , skipper and CEO of American Magic.

In 2013 and 2017, Airbus helped develop Team Oracle's winged catamarans. The team was able to defend the Cup Holder title in 2013, but lost the prestigious trophy to New Zealand in 2017. We talked in detail about Oracle Team USA and Airbus's partnership experience in a separate article. It should be noted that this cooperation was mutually beneficial: for example, work with Oracle made it possible to improve the wing tip design of A350 aircraft and develop new equipment that is now widely used in aircraft construction.
