The end of October is approaching, which means that many countries around the world will host Halloween masquerades. Not only people, but also yachts can sometimes look like they are dressed up for the carnival. itBoat has collected two dozen examples of unusual boat concepts.
Submarines
Migaloo M5
In the open ocean the most interesting things happen underwater. Some superyachts boast dedicated marine life observation rooms below the waterline.
But what about a boat that can plunge completely beneath the water to a depth of 300 metres and stay there for a month?
The total length of the journey could be up to 15,000 kilometres. Owners keen on this future prospect might consider the
Staying topside, this boat is very competitive with conventional yachts and will be able to compete with the rest of the yachting world. With a capacity of 34 guests onboard, guests can lounge by the pool, sunbathe, go scuba diving or explore the waters in one of the 16m mini-bathyscapes (although why should one when one can dive from the main board?). There are also tenders and a Bell 407 helicopter on board. The vessel itself will be able to go up to 20 knots.
The possibility for a swim remains even after the dive. An enclosed beach club with an additional pool is available on board. Other activities include a spa with Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, massage room, music lounge, grand piano, cinema, conservatory or a pool table in the deep water, while the boat cruises at up to 12 knots.
Carapace
Another concept similar to this design is offered by the Italian yard Fincantieri. The design of the Carapace («Panzer») is slimmer than the Migaloo due to the running bridge hidden under the roof, and less reminiscent of a traditional submarine. In terms of technical characteristics, however, this boat is more modest: 78m, speed up to 16 knots on the surface, and up to 13 knots underwater. The Carapace can plunge down to the same depth (up to 300 m), but will stay there only for 10 days. Without call in the port, the boat will be able to pass up to 3.8 thousand kilometers. It is assumed that there will be only 11 guests on board.
It is noteworthy that the submarine is to be constructed of aluminum.
However, even with such parameters, the project cost is exorbitant. The owner will need to invest hundreds of millions of euros in the construction.
Floating Islands
Orsos Island
In
«The maximum length of the three-level island» exceeds 37 meters, while the width is 21 meters. The total living space is approximately 1000 m².
The boat can accommodate up to 12 guests. The 6 guest cabins, each measuring 20 m², are circularly arranged on the main deck,
The large lounge area for dancing, karaoke and watching movies is located on the lower deck, but is surrounded by the technical areas. Outdoor seating is available around the main deck perimeter and on the sundeck Jacuzzi.
In 2012, Orsos Island was valued at $6.5 million.
Tropical Island Paradise
Yacht Island Design is proud to present the idea of a personal transportable tropical paradise. The scale of the floating island, which can accommodate 10 guests, is not 30 meters in length and 33 meters in width.
Under the fake volcano with a waterfall there is a two-level owner's suite.
The pool replaces the coastal lagoon, into which water flows from the river that originates from the waterfall. Several bungalows are set up on the«shore» of the lagoon, with access to the guest cabins. The snow-white bulwarks are shaped like the great ocean waves that wash over the island.
Guests will find a cinema,
Swimming in the sea is made possible by a system of circular folding floating platforms.
The island is capable of speeding up to 15 knots when changing location.
Utopia
This futuristic project with a 50m radius is also designed by Yacht Island Design.
The engines are housed in legs that allow the 11-tier platform to hover almost entirely above water.
Utopia is expected to stand on the bottom with these legs during anchorages.
At the point of intersection of the legs above the platform at 65 meters above sea level there is an observation deck with a 360 degree view. «In addition to» megayacht's gentlemen's kit, which includes bars, a cinema and numerous recreational areas, there will be a nightclub and even a casino on board.
The Streets of Monaco
The Streets of Monaco is one of the most striking of the Yacht Island concepts. As its name suggests this 155-metre floating platform is a miniature representation of Monaco.
The main deck layout follows the local
Next to it is the Hotel de Paris, La Rascasse restaurant and the Monte-Carlo Casino. Instead of a helipad after some manipulation will appear tennis court.
The owner's apartments occupy three floors. The other guests will be accommodated in 7
Construction of such a miracle will require an investment of more than $ 1 billion.
UFO
UFO and UFO 2.0
«Flying saucers» slightly more than 12 m in diameter, floating on the water surface are the idea of Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini. The living module of these boats is spherical, and«fields» are used as a bathing platform and beach club. Underwater, the sphere is glazed to allow guests to observe marine life.
Despite the overall compactness, the height of the ceilings in the cabins has not been spared. Both in the upper and lower hemispheres it will be more than 2 meters. This will advantageously distinguish UFO from traditional small boats of similar size on which peninsula cabins are often found
With mass production, the cost per UFO is expected to be in the $200,000 range.
Tetrahedron Superyacht
According to some conspiracy theories, representatives of extraterrestrial civilization built Egyptian pyramids. In that case, why wouldn't «flying saucers» have the appearance of tetrahedrons rather than«saucers» at all? Anyway the concept of
The boat not only glides on the surface of the water but is capable of rising above it with a foiling system when accelerated to 15 knots and faster.
The maximum speed is an impressive 38 knots.
It is expected that the 6 guests and 4 crew members will be able to travel autonomously up to 3000 nautical miles in the Pyramid.
Waya
Pierpaolo Lazzarini was also inspired by the pyramids. His Waya tetrahedrons of different sizes can't glide. But they can be used to build a whole city on water, which will be able to leisurely meander from place to place. Such a future looks much more tempting than a post-apocalyptic aquatic world from a Kevin Costner movie of the same name!
Lazzarini's concept includes everything from smaller private residential pyramids to hotel pyramids, and
Chameleons
Mirage
For the ultimate in privacy, the shipyard Fincantieri offers not only the option of hiding under the water like on Carapace, but also the option of simply disappearing.
It is assumed that thanks to the coloured vertical mirror panels, the
She will remain on the radar, so no collisions are to be expected.
The same mirrored panels will be used in the yacht's interior as outside. Thanks to them the interior spaces will be light and airy.
Mirage will accommodate 14 guests. Most of the guest cabins will be located on the main deck. The Owner and his family will occupy a separate deck.
A pair of diesel engines will provide a top speed of 19 knots. At an average speed of 14 knots, she will be able to travel 5,500 nautical miles. This will be sufficient for a transatlantic cruise.
Roswell
Monaco-based designer George Lucian 's design for this 65m yacht concept was also inspired by
In that respect, the Roswell is the exact opposite of the Mirage.
It won't be visible on radar, but it will be impossible to miss a boat with such a spacey exterior design when you see it in person.
It is not for nothing that the name of the project refers to the alleged UFO crash in the USA in 1947.
The Moonstone will be able to accommodate up to 12 guests at a time.
Moonstone
While the Mirage and Roswell designers wanted to keep their boats hidden in some way, Oceanco and Van Geest Design have looked to blend the 90-metre vessel
Thanks to special 300 programmable triangles on each side of the boat, the intelligent lighting system will extend the hull in continuation of the surrounding landscape.
The system will be powered by a 70m² solar panel located on the roof of the superstructure.
Guests during this time (and there can be up to 12 permanent residents on board) will enjoy the views while sitting in the circular-glazed lounge on one of the upper decks or swimming in the pool with a transparent wall aft.
Fata Morgana
Another concept from George Lucian is the 70m

Although designed for high latitudes, it will feature an outdoor swimming pool.
Black Iceberg
The Russian designer Max Zhivov had a similar idea for a yacht whose exterior will be reminiscent of the Arctic ice. However, having the same source of inspiration, the project turned out to be different from the Fata Morgana.
Animal World
Orca and Kosatka
Rosetti and American designer Steve Kozloff also found the same inspiration for their ice class Explorer. The reference point for them was
The

Her enormous size will allow four small or two medium-sized helicopters to be carried on board.
The Orca is ready to take only one.
Another distinctive feature of the Kosatka is a small crew. It will be comprised of a crew of four.
The Kosatka has a range of 22,000 nautical miles.
With an average speed of 12 knots, a non-stop fishing voyage of this Explorer will last up to 76 days.
The Seataci
Seataci is another example of how designers can take inspiration from nature without repeating its wonders one-to-one. In this project, the exterior design is hardly reminiscent of sea giants. «But the boat, designed by Canadian engineer Charles Bombardier, will do the same: the impulse of the huge tail» will propel it up and down. « Backing up» will be possible by releasing a pressurized jet of water from the side underwater «nacelles», which will contain hydrogen engines powering «the tail». Filigreely mooring the Seataci in a confined space will definitely be a challenging job!
Bombardier came up with the idea for such an unusual vessel when he was diving in Bora Bora
Clam Breath
The exterior design of this Feadship may vaguely resemble a sea hare or cuttlefish.
The boat has borrowed its main feature from a zebra.
The roof of the Breath's superstructure is curved for a reason. Similar to zebra stripes, it allows you to create a slight temperature difference near the surface. This difference produces air movement, which in the case of the Breath means a measurable reduction in energy costs for room air conditioning.
Avanguardia Swan
Pierpaolo Lazzarini is not only inspired by space and the fantasy world of the future, but also by nature. Proof of this is his latest project, a 4-deck
The swan neck not only has a decorative function, but can also be used to turn «head», into a 15m
When attached to the main boat, the head acts as a control station.
Avanguardia can accommodate 24 guests, 10 crew members and 12 crew members at a time.
