The non-stop offshore RORC Caribbean 600 race is still going strong, but records have already been set: this morning the 100-foot giant Comanche was the first monohull to cross the finish line, completing the 605-mile looping eight between the islands in 40 hours, 52 minutes and 2 seconds; a day earlier Lloyd Thornberg's trimaran Phaedo3 in a heated battle with Concise broke her own record last year, completing the race in 31 hours, 59 minutes and 4 seconds. The multihull's top speed in doing so was approaching 40 knots. The 2016 classic 600-mile racing season is now open!
