On Saturday, June 14, riot policemen of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia rescued passengers in distress of a pleasure boat, regional media report.
According to journalists, the vessel, the model of which is not specified, seriously damaged the hull during a strong storm on Lake Ladoga.
Waves were 2,5 meters high and water temperature did not exceed 8°C. The boat crew initiated a distress call.
The call for help was quickly answered: the boat of the OMON company was in the vicinity on business. It managed to approach the sinking boat and evacuate 10 of its passengers. At the same time, 6 people were picked up and taken to the shore by the rescue team, while four others moved to their own rescue boat, reports «Fontanka.ru».
It is not reported who owned the boat and what was the name of the boat. The fate of the boat is also unknown.
