The Sailing Federation appeared in the Chechen Republic only six months ago, yet a sailing team representing the republic already exists and successfully performs.

«Favorit», sailing in ORC division on Farr 40, has opened season with victory in Europe's largest Russian amateur regatta «Kabestan», held in Croatia from April 29 to May 6.

The Chechen sailors took part in the United Sailing Week regatta in Croatia without interruption, which began on May 6 and ended today, May 12. There they won again in their class, battling it out against 11 competitors. Moreover, the second victory was difficult - after the first three days of competition, held in strong winds without genakers, «Favorit» was eight points behind the leaders. The last day and three short races under 10 knots of wind were decisive for the team, said tactician «Favorit» Petr Lezhnin.

Well, in July the team members will be busy holding the first regatta in the history of the Chechen Republic - the Kezenoy-Am Cup on the mountain lake of the same name.
