Chechnya hosted the first ever children's regatta in the waters of the Grozny Sea (Chernorechenskoye Reservoir). 83 young yachtsmen from 11 yacht-clubs of the country took part in the competition, the overall classification was headed byTimofey Volchkov from Vodnik (Moscow region). The competition ended with a grandiose water show.
Sailing began to develop in the region only a few years ago with the support of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov. The Chechen Sailing Federation is only three years old, but during its existence it has already managed to hold the international regatta Kezenoi-Am Cup at a high-mountain lake, and to form its own sailing team, including a children's one.
