Late last week HollandJachtbouw launched Rainbow J-class, an almost exact replica of the famous Rainbow designed by William Burgess. Rainbow is best known for being the defender of the America's Cup in 1934. The designer of its new version was Gerard Dijkstra. An interesting feature of the yacht is hybrid diesel-electric drive scheme. The boat has no main propeller, and the propeller drive is provided by an electric propulsion motor, which can be powered by two diesel generators.
