A student of ZahaHadid, a student of the Vienna University of Applied Sciences Sergiu-Radu Pop has designed a port for scientific research and tourism off the coast of Antarctica . As conceived by the young architect, the port would have an airstrip, helicopter landing pad, hotel complex with a conference hall and specially equipped areas for scientific observations, in addition to piers for boats. The asymmetric structure, part of which snakes on the surface of the Southern Ocean water and part of which soars into the sky in the ice of the coastal zone, reminds of a futuristic man-made iceberg. Its creator undoubtedly drew inspiration from his teacher's designs, in particular her concept for the Blohm+Voss shipyard.
