Category Description

The flybridge is the upper deck above the deckhouse of the yacht. In fact, the flybridge is two in one. Firstly, it is an additional helm station for handling and mooring that also offers a better view. And secondly, it is a full-sized lounge area where bar, grill, dining area and sunbeds can be accommodated depending on the size of the yacht and the owner's wishes.

A planing yacht with a flybridge is best suited for sunny areas of the Mediterranean or the Black Sea, where outdoor recreation opportunities can be fully availed. The flybridge is where guests spend 90% of their time in good weather. In addition, this layout allows large companies to split successfully – while some can spend time in the saloon, others can sunbathe upstairs. It is also ideal for separating the crew and guests' passageways – the captain is on the flybridge while the guests are in the saloon, and vice versa .

A yacht with a flybridge has its own drawbacks. Its performance is worse when compared to yachts of similar size and capacity. It is the inevitable cost of extra comfort as the flybridge increases the weight of the boat.

And, of course, in cold waters such as those of the North Sea or the Baltic Sea the flybridge does not make much sense. Weather conditions prevent its frequent use; yet, taking care of it is necessary.
