In Norway, a four-day Ladies Tour Norway cycling race was suddenly interrupted by a drawbridge that opened to let a sailing yacht through. When the barrier closed in front of the athletes, there was only 5 km to the finish line.

The yacht's captain cheered the cyclists on. The four leaders, however, could not laugh: forced halt deprived them of advantage in 30 seconds in front of the main group.

When the bridge was opened the four female riders started all together and eventually it was not the first to win.

According to organizers of the Ladies Tour Norway, the bridge was supposed to stay closed for the duration of the race, but it dragged on longer than it should have. The structure is timer-controlled remotely from Oslo.
