It has been awaited, and it has come to fruition - the Ferretti Group has confirmed that WallyYachts is adding to its portfolio of owned brands. The official announcement will be made during the opening of Boot Düsseldorf 2019.
Thanks to the exclusive licensing agreement with Wally, Ferretti gains control of a record number of brands among all players in the yachting industry from the Apennine Peninsula. This agreement is also the first major step on the road to the actual purchase of the Wallys by the Group.
The Ferretti Group plans to invest over €84 million in Wally Yachts between 2019 and 2022.
The main part of the €70 million financing is expected to be provided already in the first two years. This should help further develop the brand and also benefit the creation of new products and - consequently - the expansion of the model range.
The new Wallys will be built at Ferretti Group shipyards, mainly in Ancona.
The Wallytender 48 will be the first project born within the partnership. It is scheduled to premiere at Cannes Yachting Festival - 2019.
«Today significant investments are required to develop new products, developing new markets. The Ferretti Group has great industrial, organizational and commercial capabilities and will be able to expand our potential. I will continue my design and development activities on an exclusive basis, thus ensuring the continuity of the DNA. Years of effort have not been in vain. I couldn't have wished for anything better for the Wally»," said Luca Bassani, avid sailor and founder of Wally Yachts.
Luca Bassani has personally designed all the Wally Yachts since their foundation in 1994, about 50 sailing yachts and over 120 motor boats and powerboats.
«There is a long-standing mutual interest between us and Wally, and from now on we will continue to develop this brand with the same energy and the same creativity that drove Ferretti to the top of the yachting world», says Alberto Galassi, chairman of the Ferretti Group.
