Sherpa is the tallest Feadship ever built

Feadship has launched the 73.6-metre motoryacht Project 815 under the name Sherpa.

Sherpa is the first Feadship with an unsanded hull.

Her brutal exterior styling with exposed sheet metal panels and welded seams accentuates the utilitarian purpose of Sherpa, which was designed as a support vessel.

Sherpa has two jibs, the largest jibs ever fitted to a Feadship.

The jibs have a maximum outreach of 20 metres. They can carry cargo from starboard to port, hoist it to and from the helipad, and load and unload the multipurpose garage platform on the deck below.

To starboard the vessel has a door in the hull which, when opened, forms a beach club. The aft bulwark folds down to form a swim platform, adding to the already generous beach club space.

The lounge and dining area as well as the bar and pantry are located below the helipad. The panoramic sea view lounge and bridge deck are offset towards the bow. All guests cabins are located on the main deck, including the master and two VIP suites. In total there are seven passenger cabins on Sherpa, accommodating up to 13 guests.

A pair of MTU 16V4000 M53R engines will give Sherpa a top speed of 15.7 knots and an impressive range of 5,200 miles at 13 knots.

Despite her utilitarian nature and brutal exterior, Sherpa is far from an everyday member of the support ship class.

Her decks are upholstered in teak, she's finished in polished stainless steel, and her interior has the same meticulous attention to detail as a Feadship.

The launching on April 26th was technical, as the height of the vessel made it impossible to complete her at the dock. She was fitted with a trawler-type wheelhouse - also a first for a Feadship - and a turret mast with a built-in elevator and observation platform.

Together with the mast, Sherpa became the tallest Feadship ever built.
