As soon as the sun set over the horizon on September 21, the founders of the Southampton Boat Show went out to celebrate their successes. This year's SouthamptonBoat Show was attended by 111963 people, a full 2% more than last year. And that's despite the heavy rains that fell more than once over the 10 days.

The organizers, of course, say that they have reached a new level and showcased a world-class show. But more significantly, the show has grown as a sales platform, which was noted by different sides of the barricades - both organizers and exhibitors. « ...people attend our Southampton show to buy boats and that was very evident this year»," said Murray Ellis of National Boat Shows.

Ashley Over ton, sales director at boat dealer Ancasta shares that after a few years people are finally reaching for their wallets and boasts good sales last year, among both powerboats and sailboats.

There were some 120 debuts at the 45 boat show, with 600 exhibitors from 22 countries. The Southampton Boat Show was held from 12 to 21 September.
