The 50m hybrid superyacht Nova has found a buyer: an experienced yachtsman who got to know the project through Tom Conboy from Heesen Yachts USA. The all-aluminium Van Oossanen Fast Displacement hulled yacht will be delivered to the owner in spring 2017.

Nova is one of the few megayachts with a hybrid propulsion system today. She can be powered by two energy sources: diesel-mechanical and diesel-electric. One or both can be used simultaneously to provide more flexible power management and greater efficiency combined with reduced noise and vibration.

At speeds up to 9 knots in electric-hybrid mode, the yacht is as silent as when at anchor.

Thanks to her hybrid propulsion system, the Nova requires considerably less fuel than her classmates: at 12 knots, the 50-metre yacht of 315 tons and almost 500 tons weighs 98 litres per hour (30% less than the average for this class) and at 10 knots, 57.5 litres per hour.

The most distinctive features of the Project Nova's exterior styling are the bow with vertical bow and splash guards. The interiors of the Project Nova, designed by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, are contemporary in style and use natural materials. The designer's task was to recreate the atmosphere of a seaside mansion on board. The main and upper decks have panoramic glazing and the aft decks have a gym on the main deck and a Jacuzzi on the upper deck. There is a gym and a hammam, as well as six cabins, including a VIP cabin on the lower deck and a master cabin on the main deck.
