Dutch shipyard Van der Valk has been contracted to build the third vessel in the Explorer series. The 28.5m boat with an elevated wheelhouse is scheduled for completion in spring 2020.

The Explorer 28M RPH has been designed by Guido de Groot Design, Diana Yacht Design and Ginton Naval Architects. The all-aluminium yacht is designed in the same style as the other boats in the range, the 25m Dutch Falcon and 37m Santa Maria T.

The order came from a repeat customer who decided to return to «to look for an ideal explorer for his transoceanic cruises», after a season on another Van der Valk.

Features of the 28-meter Explorer include a Sundeck without an additional control station, fully dedicated to guests' relaxation. Here under the hardtop there is a bar, a large dining table and a comfortable L-shaped sofa. Aft there is a Jacuzzi and sun loungers. There is also storage space for a Jet Ski and other water toys, which can be easily launched with a crane with a capacity of up to 800kg.

The yacht offers 5 guest cabins which can comfortably accommodate up to 10 people. The Owners' stateroom is located on the main deck. Moreover, there are sleeping berths for four crew members on the lower deck.

A pair of MAN V12 engines, rated at 1650 hp, will enable the vessel to cruise at a cruising speed of 17 knots and to reach a maximum speed of 20 knots. With a generous fuel capacity of 22000 litres, the owner can look forward to extensive cruising across the oceans.

Early this year, Van Der Valk unveiled its new 32-meter design with raised wheelhouse, the second largest vessel the yard has produced.
